MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER (1/19/15) - Donna Dooley, dean of the school of education at East Texas Baptist University, announced recently that she would be retiring in June of 2015 after serving the school for 17 years.

Dooley, 67, grew up in north Louisiana where she attended Louisiana Tech University and received a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Science and Doctorate of Education.

Growing up, she knew that she would be a teacher.

MARSHALL, Texas (1/20/15) - Students, faculty, and staff of East Texas Baptist University are mourning the loss of pre-nursing student Darrell Veitch, 39, of Diana, Texas. Darrell passed away on January 17, 2015. 

Memorial services for Darrell will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Simmons Hill Baptist Church located east of Diana at 4221 Simmons Road with Rev. Gabriel Knopp officiating.  

MARSHALL, Texas (1/15/15) - East Texas Baptist University has recognized its students for outstanding academic achievement during the 2014 Fall Semester with the release of the Fall Dean's List with Honors and Dean's List. The Dean's List with Honors are students who have a 3.5 grade point average or above. The Dean's List is students who have a 3.25 to 3.49 grade point average.

Listed below are the names of students earning recognition to the ETBU Dean's List with Honors and Dean's List. Students are sorted in alphabetical order and by home town. 

MARSHALL, Texas (1/14/15) - Dr. Douglas Lockard, Professor of Music at East Texas Baptist University, will present a faculty trumpet recital on Tuesday, January 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the Mabee Recital Hall located in the Jenna Guest Music Building on campus.  Admission is free. 

MARSHALL, Texas (1/14/15) - East Texas Baptist University will be closed on Monday, January 19, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  Administrative offices and classes will resume on Tuesday morning, January 20, at 8:00 a.m.
