ETBU students recognized for Christian servant leadership

East Texas Baptist University acknowledged two students on Monday, October 8 for their service to the campus and community. Seniors Mpanga Chanda from Lusaka, Zambia, and Sheldon McGowan from Tyler, Texas, were awarded the Bob and Gayle Riley Servant Leadership Award during a special chapel service. ETBU President Emeritus Bob Riley and his wife, Gayle, presented the students with a replica of the “Divine Servant” statue, created by Max Greiner, that stands outside of ETBU’s Ornelas Spiritual Life Center.

CASL 2017 at ETBU fosters leadership with students from across the U.S.

East Texas Baptist University hosted the 19th annual Christian Association of Student Leaders Conference January 26-28 on the ETBU campus. Over 250 students from Baptist universities across the South and Southeast, such as Dallas Baptist University, Houston Baptist University, Howard Payne University, Hardin-Simmons University, Louisiana College, Mississippi College, and University of Mary-Hardin Baylor, were in attendance. The weekend, themed Learn. Serve. Lead., trained and gave students tools to be Christ-like leaders.

ETBU Business Students Attend Class Down Under

MARSHALL, Texas (6/30/15) - When you think of Australia, kangaroos, koala bears, or Crocodile Dundee might come to mind. For 14 East Texas Baptist University students from the Fred Hale School of Business, they actually experienced "down under" while participating in a travel study class during May Term.

The students spent two weeks in the Brisbane area and were accompanied by ETBU Associate Professor of Management Dr. Kathleen Mays. Australia was the perfect setting for Dr. Mays to teach two classes, International Business and International Marketing.

ETBU Students Experience Life In Africa

MARSHALL, Texas (6/24/15) - Two separate groups of students from East Texas Baptist University traveled to Africa during May with the same purpose in mind. The students who went to Ethiopia had a goal to learn about Cross Cultural leadership within mission work. The nursing students who went to Zambia for 21 days also went to learn and serve as they were involved in a combined nursing course and mission trip. The two abroad trips were part of the ongoing Travel/Study program of ETBU.

ETBU School of Education Recognizes Outstanding Students

MARSHALL, Texas (4/23/15) - The East Texas Baptist University School of Education handed out year-end student awards on Saturday, April 18, 2015, for the 2014-2015 academic year. The awards reception was held in the Woods Great Room of the Ornelas Student Center.  Student projects were displayed in the Cornish Great Room.

The Department of Kinesiology presented their awards first before a large crowd of students, faculty, family, and friends.

The Dr. Marie Franks Scholarship was awarded to April Fry of Winnsboro.
