East Texas Baptist University’s Marshall Grand was selected as the recipient of the 2020 Overall Historic Renovation Award among hundreds of projects by Ludowici, a world-renowned tile producer located in New Lexington, Ohio, whose terra cotta tiles are revered worldwide for their distinctive look and sustainable, long-lasting beauty. Winners are chosen each year by an internal Ludowici panel and a popular vote based on factors relating to appearance, uniqueness, complexity, and craftsmanship.

Throughout the month of February, the Office of Multicultural Affairs at East Texas Baptist University honored the rich contributions of African Americans to our communities, culture, and country through the hosting of Black History Month events on the ETBU campus.

In January of 2020, the East Texas Baptist University Board of Trustees unanimously voted to launch a fundraising campaign to construct a 23,000 square feet facility, the Great Commission Center, which will be the future home to the Fred Hale School of Business, the Great Commission Program, and the Office of Career Development. In the summer of 2020, ETBU received a $1,500,000 challenge grant from the J. E. and L. E. Mabee Foundation, requiring the University to raise $6,000,000 by July 1, 2021, in order to receive the $1,500,000 challenge grant funds.

After a record-breaking fall enrollment, ETBU’s Spring 2021 enrollment has set yet another record. With 1,479 new and returning Tigers enrolled in January 2021, this marks the highest spring enrollment in University history. This year’s spring enrollment shows a 5.3% increase over last year’s record spring enrollment of 1,405 Tigers.

East Texas Baptist University’s School of Humanities seeks to communicate the practical application of its degree programs to prospective students. This year, the department added an Introduction to Law course to meet the needs of pre-law majors who are anxious about the transition from undergraduate studies to law school, and to provide a way for students interested in law to familiarize themselves with the profession in a more general way.
