Four ETBU faculty members receive promotions

East Texas Baptist University is pleased to announce the promotion of four faculty members, including Dr. Allen Appiah-Boateng (Associate Professor of Counseling Education), Dr. Laci McRee (Associate Professor of Kinesiology), Dr. Jenny Hoover (Associate Professor of History), and Dr. Colleen Halupa (Professor of Clinical Lab Science and Dean of Online Education). These promotions mark a proud moment for the ETBU community as students, faculty, and staff have witnessed these individuals make a significant impact on campus and in the classroom.

East Texas Baptist University reaches Mabee Challenge Grant goal of $6M

Thanks to the generosity of ETBU alumni and friends of the University, East Texas Baptist University has raised more than $6,000,000 for the Great Commission Center campaign. In the summer of 2020, ETBU received a $1,500,000 challenge grant from the J. E. and L. E. Mabee Foundation, requiring the University to raise $6,000,000 by mid-July 2021, in order to receive the challenge grant funds. The goal has officially been met, allowing the University to receive the challenge grant from the J. E. and L.E.

As a Christ-centered university, East Texas Baptist is focused on fulfilling its primary mission of educating students by integrating biblical faith and learning to prepare graduates to be Christian servant leaders in the communities God calls them to serve. In servicing this mission, an Economic Impact Report has concluded that East Texas Baptist University has a profound economic impact on the region’s economy.

ETBU Bass Fishing Anglers Catch Championship Title

One of only ten boats selected to participate in the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series Classic presented by Bass Pro Shops, sophomore criminal justice major Ethan Thurston and senior business administration major Cody Ross won the event at Eagle Mountain Lake on Sunday, June 13 with a four-fish bag that weighed 16 pounds, 6 ounces. This is the third championship tournament won by the ETBU Tiger Bass Fishing program in the last year, having the top boat at MLF qualifying tournaments on the Ouachita River (LA) and Lake Chickamauga (TN).
