ETBU senior Kayla Barrentine crowned as Miss ETBU 2018

Senior Music Education major Kayla Barrentine of Canton was crowned as the 62nd Miss ETBU on Saturday, April 7. Barrentine, an active member of the ETBU community as a member of concert choir, Tiger Marching Band, National Association for Music Educators, Association for Texas Professional Educators, and the Baptist Student Ministry, was selected from eight contestants as Miss ETBU 2018 at the annual scholarship pageant sponsored by ETBU's Student Government Association.

ETBU hosts Global Missions Week to emphasize Holy Week

East Texas Baptist University held a series of events as a part of the annual ETBU Global Missions Week on Monday, March 26 through Wednesday, March 28 to highlight both international and local missions during Holy Week. The University invited more than 40 organizations to setup informational booths at the Mission Marketplace and chose Texas Baptist Men (TBM) Chief Executive Officer Mickey Lenamon and Woman's Missionary Union of Texas (WMU) Executive Director-Treasurer Tamiko Jones as guest speakers for the week's chapel services.

ETBU receives recognition as a Tree Campus USA by Arbor Day Foundation

East Texas Baptist University received recognition as a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for its commitment to effectively manage campus trees, connect with the community to foster urban forests, and engage the student population to utilize service learning opportunities centered on campus, community, and forestry efforts. ETBU is one of 28 Tree Campus USA colleges and universities in Texas, and one of over 350 Tree Campus USA colleges in America.

ETBU Volleyball serves in Eastern Europe through TAME

The East Texas Baptist University Volleyball Team spent Spring Break in Eastern Europe as a part of the Tiger Athletic Mission Experience (TAME) program. The group of 16, led by Vice President for Athletics Ryan Erwin and his wife, Kristy, along with Head Volleyball Coach Keely Peterson, partnered with two ETBU alumni currently serving overseas. Through TAME, the Tigers were enabled to engage in outreach by hosting volleyball clinics, teaching English, and competing with local club teams.
