Nine faculty at East Texas Baptist University recently received promotions, including Dr. Angela Anima-Korang (Associate Professor of Communication), Dr. Zachary Beck (Professor of English), Dr. Jennifer Mobley (Professor of Psychology), Dr. Festus Obi (Associate Professor of Criminal Justice), Dr. Derek Royer (Associate Professor of Biology), Dr. Robin Rudd (Professor of Mathematics), Dr. Teresa Salazar (Associate Professor of Mathematics), Dr. Chris Smith (Associate Professor of Worship Leadership), and Dr. Lynette Vincent (Associate Professor of Music).

East Texas Baptist University Announces the Harrison County Promise Scholarship

East Texas Baptist University President J. Blair Blackburn met with school superintendents from across Harrison County to announce a new initiative aimed at empowering local students during a meeting on Tuesday, February 6. President Blackburn introduced the Harrison County Promise Scholarship, an endeavor designed for Harrison County’s top students to receive a Christ-centered higher education at ETBU.

ETBU hosts annual Spiritual Renewal event for campus community

East Texas Baptist University recently concluded its annual Spiritual Renewal 2024 event, held on campus from January 29 to January 31. The event featured guest speaker Lance Shumake, Teaching Pastor and Elder for Crosspoint Community Church in Rockwall, Texas, along with Music Minister David Berryhill (’94) from First Baptist Church of Kilgore, who led worship alongside ETBU’s student worship band. The event’s theme, "All Things New," drew inspiration from Isaiah 43:16-19.

East Texas Baptist University Achieves Record Spring 2024 Enrollment Numbers

East Texas Baptist University observed record enrollment figures for the Spring 2024 semester, showcasing significant growth and surpassing previous milestones.

The Spring 2024 enrollment data highlights include the highest spring enrollment in university history, with a total of 1,657 students, an increase of 6.2% that surpasses the previous high of 1,560 recorded in Spring 2023.
