ETBU’s Teague School of Nursing Awarded Over $333,000 to Address Nursing Shortage and Enhance Training

East Texas Baptist University’s Teague School of Nursing has received two significant grants to bolster its efforts to address the critical nursing shortage and enhance nursing education. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board awarded $322,236.33 in Nursing Shortage Reduction Program (NSRP) funds, while the East Texas Communities Foundation granted $11,237.26 from the Betty and Roy Erickson Grant for Nursing Fund.

Governor Greg Abbott Appoints ETBU Professor Dr. Antay Waters to Perinatal Advisory Council

East Texas Baptist University Teague School of Nursing Assistant Professor Dr. Antay Waters has been appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to the Texas Perinatal Advisory Council. Dr. Waters, the only advanced practice nurse on the 19-member council, will serve a three-year term. The council is tasked with developing and recommending neonatal and maternal care standards for clinical care settings across the state.

ETBU Nursing Students Awarded Polly Cargill Nursing Scholarship

Students from East Texas Baptist University’s Teague School of Nursing were recently honored with the Polly Cargill Nursing Scholarship, generously provided by the Jerry and Jack Cargill family in partnership with ETBU. A total of 31 local nursing students were recognized during a ceremony held at the Marshall Grand on Wednesday, September 11, with ETBU accounting for 22 of the recipients.

East Texas Baptist University names Nursing School after two nurses

East Texas Baptist University’s School of Nursing has officially been renamed the Teague School of Nursing in recognition of two nurses who left a great impact on the people they cared for, and in honor of the lifetime of outstanding and generous support of ETBU alumnus Dr. Jim Teague (’68). This marks East Texas Baptist’s first school to be named after females, and the third academic school out of eight to hold a namesake at the University.
