ETBU School of Humanities Plans Trip to the Holy Land, May 11-23

MARSHALL, Texas (1/29/15) - Have you ever thought about "what is it like to walk where Jesus walked?"  The East Texas Baptist University School of Humanities is providing this "once in a life time opportunity" for the Marshall community to travel to Israel this May with students, and experience the wonders of the Holy Land in person.  The Holy Land trip is scheduled for May 11-23.

"Do Unto Others:" Friendship, compassion lead ETBU alum to donate kidney to lifelong friend

MARSHALL, Texas  (1/29/15) -  In the course of a friendship, many words are expressed among longtime friends. Friends share laughs as well as hurts. Friends spend time together like seeing a movie or attending a football game. When a close friend is in need and you say, "I will do anything to help you" do you really mean it? How about donating an organ to that friend?

ETBU Student Athletes Raise Money for Mission Marshall & 34 Named to ASC All-Academic Teams

MARSHALL, Texas (1/26/15) - Reaching out to help the Marshall community the East Texas Baptist University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee had the annual "Make A Change" night raising funds and getting donations for Mission Marshall and the Clothes Depot. This is an event sponsored by the American Southwest Conference every year and the SAAC delegates run the event.

Former ETBU VP & Longtime Central Baptist Pastor Retires

MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER (1/24/15) -  Almost 38 years after he joined Central Baptist Church as pastor, Wallace Watkins bid adieu to his flock to warm wishes and fond memories.

"There's a friend of mine who said, Wallace Watkins is not a famous pastor but probably should be," said Patrick Adair, Central's new pastor. "From my perspective it was a tremendous honor and blessing to be able to follow in Wallace's footsteps."

Watkins retired from his pastorship on Jan. 1 but the church held a service on Jan. 11 to say farewell.
