ETBU Senior Girl Call-Out Ceremony, Friday, April 10

April 8, 2015

MARSHALL, Texas (4/08/15) - East Texas Baptist University will hold one of its oldest traditions, Senior Girl Call-Out, on Friday, April 10, 2015.  The 68th Senior Girl Call-Out ceremony will be held on the front lawn of Marshall Hall at 3:00 p.m.

The Senior Girl Call-Out ceremony is a simple, but beautiful ceremony honoring senior women who best reflect the values of the University. The one "called-out" is a young woman who is courteous, kind, loves scholarship, appreciates beauty, and shows evidence in her daily living of spiritual perception and reverence. The one chosen by secret faculty/staff ballot will receive special recognition of her accomplishments.

The 20 senior women who will participate in this year's ceremony are: Haylie Amison of Mount Pleasant, Kayla Cradit of Richmond, Amanda Gill of Austin, Tiana Gray of Los Angeles, Calif., Hannah Green of Texarkana, Sharolyn Haynes of El Campo, Samantha Jackson of Gilmer, Kimberly Ledbetter of Mount Pleasant, Megan Merrill of Marshall, and Elizabeth Nesbitt of Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The others are: Leyah Neuman of Devine, Jovana Nieto of Pittsburg, Paige Redmon of Bonham, Janet Rodriguez of Dallas, Amanda Rucker of Grand Saline, Summer Scott of San Antonio, Jessica Shans of Tatum, Alena Vaughn of Newton, Lillian Williams of Emory, and Audrey Winders of Kingwood.

Miss Sallie Duncan, then dean of women initiated Senior Girl Call-Out in 1947. The script for the ceremony, which was written by former librarian Dr. Mary K. Armstrong, has remained the same for 68 years. Armstrong also wrote the arrangement for the ETBU school hymn.
