Marshall woman Jean Birmingham given ETBU service award

Retired Marshall ISD school teacher Jean Birmingham received the Sam B. Hall Civic Service Award from East Texas Baptist University during the annual Sam B. Hall dinner and lecture series.

Birmingham served as a business teacher at Marshall ISD for 36 years and was also active in the city of Marshall as an entrepreneur and city activist.

Birmingham was presented the award on Tuesday at the university by former Harrison County Judge Richard Anderson.

Marshall attorney given the Sam B. Hall award at ETBU lecture

MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER (3/24/16) - Marshall attorney Michael Smith has been named the Sam B. Hall Civic Service Award on Tuesday at East Texas Baptist University.

Smith received the award during the sixth annual Sam B. Hall Dinner and Lecture at the university that honors the memory of the former Marshall attorney, judge, ETBU alum and congressman.

Hall served in the U.S. Army, as an U.S. Rep., an U.S. District Court Judge, a Marshall ISD trustee and the Harrison County Farm Bureau.

The Sam B. Hall Dinner & Lecture on March 22 at ETBU

MARSHALL, Texas (3/15/16) – The 2016 Sam B. Hall Jr. Dinner and Lecture will be held on Tuesday, March 22, at 7:00 p.m. in the Woods and Cornish Great Rooms on the second floor of the Ornelas Student Center at East Texas Baptist University. A reception will precede the program at 6:30 p.m. 
 
The lecture series program commemorates the late United States Representative and United States District Court Judge Sam B. Hall, Jr., who was a Marshall native and an alumnus of the College of Marshall, ETBU's forerunner.
