At the start of the Fall 2020 semester, Robert E. Craig Hall, one of ETBU’s landmark buildings, was transformed into an award-winning, state-of-the-art learning facility that is now home to one of the University’s largest academic schools, the Frank S. Groner School of Professional Studies.

Two ETBU seniors recognized for Christian servant leadership

Two East Texas Baptist University students were recognized with the 2020 Riley Servant Leadership Award during chapel on Monday, October 5, for consistently displaying Christian servant leadership on campus and in the community. Seniors Emily Jones from Beaumont, Texas, and Mylan Shed from Teague, Texas, were honored by receiving the Bob and Gayle Riley Servant Leadership Award. ETBU President Emeritus Dr. Bob Riley and his wife, Gayle, attended and took part in the ceremony.

ETBU theatre looks to the light with performance of 'Wait Until Dark'

East Texas Baptist University's School of Communications and Performing Arts lifted the curtain last weekend on their production of the classic Broadway thriller Wait Until Dark by Frederick Knott. The 1966 play, turned into an Oscar-nominated film starring Audrey Hepburn, was directed in this iteration by ETBU Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts Joshua Scott.

Texas Baptists guest speakers bring wisdom to students at ETBU

Two Texas Baptists representatives Jane Wilson, Discipleship Specialist, and Gus Reyes, Director of the Christian Life Commission, visited the East Texas Baptist University campus in September. Wilson was the keynote speaker during chapel and special guest lecturer during the “Empowering Women” Student Leadership Luncheon on Wednesday, September 16, where she had the special opportunity to extend her conversation and personally encourage female students to embrace their spiritual leadership to positively impact people for God.

ETBU community assembles for prayer during annual See You at the Pole

East Texas Baptist University students, faculty, and staff gathered in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 23, for the annual See You at the Pole event, a global day of student-led prayer. The tradition that started in 1990 at a high school in Burleson, Texas, has since grown to see upwards of three million students in the United States and over 20 countries gather to pray at their school’s flagpole.
