ETBU Softball cultivates Costa Rica for Christ

East Texas Baptist University's Softball Team traveled to Costa Rica December 10-17 to participate in the first-ever Tiger Athletic Mission Experience (TAME). These Tigers, some of which had never been on a mission trip, others out of the United States, or a few even on an airplane, overcame fear, anxiety, and the unknown to cultivate the Word of God and His hope through Christ while using their God-given athletic talents.

ETBU to hold Fall Commencement on Dec. 10

East Texas Baptist University will hold Fall Commencement on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in Baker Chapel of the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center on ETBU's campus. Presiding will be ETBU President Dr. J. Blair Blackburn with 79 students receiving undergraduate degrees and 20 students receiving master's degrees for a total of 99 new ETBU graduates.

ETBU confers 99 graduates during Fall Commencement

Fall Commencement ceremonies for East Texas Baptist University were held on Saturday, December 10, 2016, in Baker Chapel of the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center, with Dr. J. Blair Blackburn, President of the University presiding. ETBU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Thomas Sanders, assisted by academic deans, presented the graduating class. The Invocation was given by Danny Jackson, who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion.

ETBU students recognized for being ‘outstanding’ at national UN conference

Nine East Texas Baptist University students along with Political Science Professor Dr. Israel Nandamudi traveled to compete at the American Model United Nations (AMUN) Conference held in Chicago, November 19-23. The team won the prestigious "Outstanding Delegation Award" for the second year in a row.

"Our group was proactive and efficient in everything that we did," Head Delegate senior Sara Corley said. "We were quick to seek information and confident in the speeches we gave."

New Tiger Athletic Mission Experience program empowers ETBU Softball to share God’s love in Costa Rica

ETBU Softball will travel to Costa Rica December 10-17 as part of a newly established ETBU Tiger Athletic Mission Experience program. The primary goal of this new program is to give student athletes the opportunity to spread the Gospel of Christ through sports evangelism. The team will spend time distributing Bibles, doing construction, and serving at a school and orphanage. The ETBU Softball Team will host a softball camp for youth in the area, and, as a bonus, play two exhibition games against the Costa Rican National Team.
