ETBU Graduates Say They've Grown Spiritually While Learning

MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER (5/8/16) - East Texas Baptist University graduate Hoyce Mitchell said Saturday that he will always be thankful for his time at the Marshall university where he honed his basketball skills, earned an education and grew in his walk with God.

"ETBU helped me grow as a person, spiritually, physically and emotionally," Mitchell said Saturday. "Earning my degree makes me feel good because that's one more accomplishment, one more step in my life."

Mitchell now hopes to move on to the pro-basketball circuit, starting overseas first.

Five Home Runs Propel ETBU into Championship Game

ASC: MARSHALL, Texas (5/8/16) – Keeping the season alive with an American Southwest Conference Red Division elimination game win over Sul Ross State University, the East Texas Baptist University baseball team came from behind for a 23-15 victory. The win vs. SRSU also featured Tyler Bates becoming ETBU’s all-time hits lead with 201 as he broke it on a grand slam home run.

ETBU Holds Off HPU in ASC Tourny

ASC RED BRACKET: MARSHALL, Texas (5/6/16) – Holding off a feisty rally by Howard Payne University, the East Texas Baptist University baseball team pulled away with an 8-6 victory advancing in the winner’s bracket of the American Southwest Conference Red Bracket division. With the win, ETBU (29-12) plays Hardin-Simmons University at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

BUA & BGCT President René Maciel To Be ETBU’s Spring Commencement Speaker

MARSHALL, Texas (5/03/16) – East Texas Baptist University announces that René Maciel, president of Baptist University of the Americas, will be the keynote speaker for Spring Commencement.  Maciel also serves as the Baptist General Convention of Texas President. ETBU will hold two commencement ceremonies, 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, May 7, in Baker Chapel of the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center.
