ETBU Given Two Historical Markers From State Agency

MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER: (10/23/15) - East Texas Baptist University cemented its spot in history on Thursday with the dedications of two historical markers on the front lawn of its Marshall Hall.

State Rep. Chris Paddie of Marshall was on hand to read proclamations declaring the southern Baptist university and its Marshall Hall building as state historical sites.

The two historical marker dedications were celebrated as part of the university's observance of "Founders Day."

ETBU Crowns Homecoming King and Queen

MARSHALL, Texas (10/24/15) - East Texas Baptist University crowned the 2015 Homecoming King and Queen during the Friday Night Pep Rally held in Ornelas Gymnasium. The King is senior Caleb Dorsey of Palestine and the Queen is junior Jayme Perez of Austin.   

Caleb is the son of Carl and Barbara Dorsey. He is a Religion major and represented Residence Life. Jayme is the daughter of David Perez and Karen Gebhardt. She is a Mass Communications major and represented Student Foundation.

ETBU Changes Start to Homecoming Football Game

MARSHALL, Texas (10/23/15) - Due to expected inclement weather, East Texas Baptist University officials have changed the start time of the homecoming football game with Belhaven University.  The ETBU-Belhaven game will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Ornelas Stadium. 

The Tiger Family Carnival, in conjunction with homecoming activities, has been moved to an inside venue and will be held in the Dean Healthplex from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. The Tiger Carnival is open for all homecoming participants to attend and will include games, local food vendors and live music.

Tiger Athletics: Weekend Action By Volleyball, Football & Soccer

VOLLEYBALL: TYLER, Texas (10/17/15) - For the fifth time in as many matches, the East Texas Baptist University volleyball team won via sweep as it topped Howard Payne University, 3-0. Playing on Saturday in its third and final match as part of the American Southwest Conference Crossover Tournament hosted by University of Texas-Tyler, ETBU (20-3, 8-2 ASC) bested Howard Payne (1-17, 1-9 ASC) by set scores of 25-13, 25-12, 25-18.

For the match, ETBU had a team attacking percentage of .313. In comparison, Howard Payne hit .067 as a team.
