Civil Rights Tour provides immersive learning experience for trip-goers

A group of East Texas Baptist University students, faculty, and staff recently spent four days in Alabama learning the history and significance of the Civil Rights Movement. The group visited Birmingham, Montgomery, and Selma, where they had the opportunity to tour significant sites such as the National Peace and Justice Center, National Voting Rights Museum, and the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute.

ETBU students receive awards for academic excellence

East Texas Baptist University recognized the academic achievements of outstanding Tiger students at the annual Honors Chapel awards ceremony. Students who were inducted into various honor societies, as well as those who received Academic Excellence Awards, were applauded for their accomplishments. Academic Excellence Awards are given to students from different academic departments who are recognized by their respective faculty for their Christian character, scholarly accomplishments, servant leadership, and active involvement in ETBU campus life.

ETBU hosts annual celebration of Marshall’s Sam B. Hall, Jr.

East Texas Baptist University hosted its annual tribute to the Honorable Sam B. Hall, Jr. with the Sam B. Hall Patriotic Concert on Friday, April 22. The concert featured patriotic live music performed by the University Symphonic Band, Combined Choirs, and Hilltop Singers, as well as a celebratory salute to those who serve or have served in the U.S. military. In addition to members of the East Texas community, several members of Sam B. Hall’s family were in attendance to honor his life and legacy.
