ETBU women are headed to the Sweet 16

After a tightly fought first quarter, the East Texas Baptist women's basketball suddenly caught fire for the rest of the game as they would upset the University of Texas Dallas Comets for the second time in two weeks winning 64-51 in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Tigers will continue to dance as they will advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history and are now 24-6 on the year.

ETBU Women's Basketball wins first ever ASC Championship

In a fight to the finish for the right to be the American Southwest Conference tournament Champions, the East Texas Baptist University women's basketball team stunned the #1 seed University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders in dramatic fashion with a game-winning shot by Kim Childress for a 71-70 win. This marks the first ever conference championship in program history as well as the first time ETBU will head to the NCAA Tournament. With the win, ETBU has also tied a program for the most wins in the Division III era with 22 wins. The overall record is 26 wins back in 1999.

ETBU Theatre performs Moon over the Brewery

The East Texas Baptist University Theatre Arts Department performed Bruce Graham's Moon over the Brewery on Thursday, February 22 through Sunday, February 25. The play, directed by ETBU Costume Designer Samantha Pettigrew, is a coming-of-age story focusing on thirteen-year-old Amanda Waslyk as she adjusts to her single mother's search for companionship.

ETBU hosts Woven Conference for students dating, engaged, or married

East Texas Baptist University held Woven, a one-day event focusing on God's design for relationships, on Wednesday, February 14. The conference addressed topics such as singleness, dating, engagement, marriage, and purity and consisted of a chapel service for all students, faculty, and staff and a luncheon for those seriously dating, engaged, or newly married.

ETBU announces transition in Tiger Football head coaches

The East Texas Baptist University Athletic Department has announced a transition in head coaches for the ETBU Tiger Football Team. Head Coach Scott Highsmith, who served as head coach for the 2017 season, has stepped down due to family health reasons.  ETBU has hired former Navarro College Head Coach and 2013 Fellowship of Christian Athletes' Central Texas Coach of the Year, Brian Mayper to take over the program. Mayper has an extensive coaching background with leadership at the NCAA Division I, II, III, junior college, and professional levels.
