ETBU gives initial $1,500 donation to newly formed Nu-Town Revitalization Group

East Texas Baptist University met Tuesday with members of the Nu-Town Revitalization Group (NRG), a local non-profit organization that strives to promote social, educational, and economic awareness to improve the Marshall community. University President J. Blair Blackburn presented co-founders Chris Frazier, Tasha Williams, and Anna Ansari with a donation of $1,500 toward the creation of NRG’s forthcoming Educational Resource Center and Youth Recreation Center.

At the start of the Fall 2020 semester, Robert E. Craig Hall, one of ETBU’s landmark buildings, was transformed into an award-winning, state-of-the-art learning facility that is now home to one of the University’s largest academic schools, the Frank S. Groner School of Professional Studies.

Two ETBU seniors recognized for Christian servant leadership

Two East Texas Baptist University students were recognized with the 2020 Riley Servant Leadership Award during chapel on Monday, October 5, for consistently displaying Christian servant leadership on campus and in the community. Seniors Emily Jones from Beaumont, Texas, and Mylan Shed from Teague, Texas, were honored by receiving the Bob and Gayle Riley Servant Leadership Award. ETBU President Emeritus Dr. Bob Riley and his wife, Gayle, attended and took part in the ceremony.
