BAPTIST STANDARD: Marshall, Texas (4/14/16) — The church should give the world a glimpse of the kingdom of God, but cultural accommodation and nationalism prevent American congregations from fulfilling their calling, theologian Roger Olson said.

 “The church is not to be a launching pad for Christian empire—American or otherwise—but God’s alternative social order within the fallen world ruled by powers and principalities, challenging them with light dispelling their darkness, not the might of power and force,” he said.

MARSHALL, Texas (4/5/16) – The East Texas Baptist University School of Christian Studies is hosting the T.B. Maston Lecture Series on Wednesday, April 13. The speaker is Dr. Roger Olson, Foy Valentine Professor of Christian Theology and Ethics, at Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary. A luncheon will be held from 11:15 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with the lecture, “America Critically Examined,” from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.

MARSHALL, Texas (4/08/16) – The 60th  Miss East Texas Baptist University Scholarship Pageant was held Saturday, April 2, with sophomore nursing major Brittany Smith of Los Angeles, California crowned as Miss ETBU 2016. Miss Smith competed against 10 other contestants in the pageant held in Baker Auditorium of the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center.

MARSHALL, Texas (4/4/16) - East Texas Baptist University and the Hispanic Baptist Convention of Texas announces a partnership to create scholarships for incoming students. The ETBU Hispanic Christian Servant Leadership Scholarship is designed to help outstanding young Hispanic students continue their education as they prepare for God’s call on their lives.
