Hundreds of community members gathered for East Texas Baptist University’s annual Great East Texas Hymn Sing on Friday, September 23, in Baker Chapel of the Rogers Spiritual Life Center. ETBU welcomed the campus, alumni, and local church community to come together for a special time of worship, fellowship, and celebration of Christian faith.

The Texas Work Force Commission and Marshall Economic Development Corporation awarded East Texas Baptist University a $299,470 grant for the creation of the Workforce Training Center that will be located within Synergy Park, the University’s dedicated center for workforce development, educational learning, business workspace cooperative, and community organizational networking.

East Texas Baptist University celebrates the highest recorded student enrollment in the University’s 110-year history with 1,771 total students. For three consecutive fall terms, the University’s total enrollment has exceeded 1,688 with two of the three years exceeding 1,700 students. ETBU has seen steady growth over the last decade with this year’s enrollment marking a 36% increase since 2014.

The 2022-2023 academic year is off to an exciting start at East Texas Baptist University. After a summer spent working, traveling, and serving, students returned to the Hill for August Mini-Term classes, Move-In Day, Tiger Camp, and the official start of the Fall 2022 semester on August 15.

East Texas Baptist University recently received a $100,000 grant from the East Texas Medical Center (ETMC) Foundation. This marks the third year the University has received grant funds from ETMC to help meet the growing need for mental healthcare in Smith County and the greater East Texas region.
