ETBU’s Worship Summit teaches, equips, and inspires church musicians and students

East Texas Baptist University, along with Texas Baptists (BGCT), hosted the fourth annual Worship Summit on Thursday, October 17 in ETBU’s Ornelas Student Center. The gathering focused on encouraging and training church music ministers and worship leaders with teachings focused on congregational music, songwriting, and technology in music.

Hal and Joyce Cornish provide generous donation to ETBU Soccer

East Texas Baptist University honored Marshall Community members Hal and Joyce Cornish with a Founders Society Award during chapel on Wednesday in recognition of their recent generous donations for additional enhancements to the Cornish Soccer Field. Originally built in 2000, the field was initially upgraded in 2007 with funds also provided by the Cornishs, and the current soccer facilities were named in their honor.

ETBU commences 2019-2020 theatre season with Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors

The East Texas Baptist University Department of Theatre Arts concluded its production of Comedy of Errors last weekend after a successful four-show run from Thursday, October 3 to Sunday, October 6. The performances, directed by Associate Professor of Theatre Arts John Dement, consisted of many firsts for the students involved.

ETBU students recognized for Christian servant leadership

East Texas Baptist University recognized two students on Monday, October 7 for their service to the campus and community. Seniors Lane Craig from Marshall, Texas, and Helen Sperling from Quitman, Texas, were awarded the Bob and Gayle Riley Servant Leadership Award during a special chapel service. ETBU President Emeritus Bob Riley and his wife, Gayle, presented the students with a replica of the “Divine Servant” statue, created by Max Greiner, which stands outside of ETBU’s Ornelas Spiritual Life Center.
