Tiger Football Players Named All-Americans

FOOTBALL: MARSHALL, Texas (1/11/16) - Receiving one last award before the college football season ends, the East Texas Baptist University football had five players gain recognition from the USA Football Network with two being All-Americans. Josh Warbington and Kendall Roberson were named to the All-American team for NCAA Division III while C.J. Johnson, Tony Jones, and Bryston Parker made it onto the All-American Rookie Team.

For the second year in a row Warbington is on the All-American team. This is his second post-season award as he was voted All-ASC first-team at quarterback. He finishes a stellar career at ETBU throwing for over 7,000 yards and now holds 12 overall records from single game, single season, and career records. This past season he threw for 2,180 yards and 17 touchdowns with a 157.5 passing efficiency.

Roberson earns his first All-American award and this is his third post season award. He was already voted to the All-ASC first-team and the D3football.com All-South Region second-team. As one of the top premier back in NCAA Division III, he finished the year with 1,626 yards rushing and 24 touchdowns averaging 162.6 yards per game. At one point near the end of the season he was leading NCAA Division III in rushing touchdowns before post season play. He will finish in the NCAA Division III top 10 in three different categories. In September, he posted 420-yards rushing and five touchdowns vs. Belhaven University. The 420-yards rushing is eighth all-time in all NCAA.

Making it onto the All-Rookie team is Johnson (linebacker) and offensive linemen Parker and Jones. Johson was an All-ASC first-team selection and had 55 tackles and 6.5 sacks. Jones was an All-ASC second team selection and Parker was honorable mention.

ETBU finished the year at 7-3 and were tri-champions in the American Southwest Conference. It is the second championship in program history and the first winning season in 10 years.
