ETBU To Hold Duo Piano Recital, January 19th

MARSHALL, Texas (1/12/16) - The East Texas Baptist University Department of Music presents a Duo Piano recital by Dr. Randall S. Sulton and Ryan Chandler on Tuesday, January 19 at 7:00 p.m. The recital will be held in Mabee Recital Hall located in the Jenna Guest Music Building on campus. Admission is free.

The program will feature works written for two pianos (Brahm's Variations on a Theme by Haydn, Milhaud's Scaramouche and Liszt?s Hungarian Rhapsody No.2), as well as one major work written for piano duet (Schubert's Fantasie in F minor), according to Dr. Sulton, ETBU Professor of Music.

Chandler holds a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from East Texas Baptist University (2002) and a Master of Music in piano performance and pedagogy from Baylor University (2004), along with a Master of Arts in Church History from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. His teachers include Randall Sulton and Brian Marks. 

Chandler has previously taught adjunct classes at ETBU, taught music in both elementary and middle school, and has served in music ministry positions for churches in Texas, Massachusetts, and Louisiana. He currently resides with his wife and four children in Shreveport, La., where he is employed as a credit analyst at Barksdale Federal Credit Union. 
 
Dr. Sulton, who has been teaching at ETBU since 1996, is a native of South Carolina. He maintains an active performance schedule with solo recitals and concerto appearances throughout Texas, Kansas, Tennessee and South Carolina. Dr. Sulton holds three degrees in Piano Performance including the Bachelor of Music from Converse College, the Master of Music from Florida State University, and the Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Texas at Austin. His teachers were Henry Rauch, James Streem, and William Race.
