ETBU Jazz Band In Concert, Nov. 13

MARSHALL, Texas (11/10/15) - The East Texas Baptist University Jazz Band will be in concert on Friday, November 13, at 7:00 p.m. at the Marshall Grand Hotel in downtown Marshall. Admission is $5 or free with ETBU I.D. 

The ETBU Jazz Band, under the direction of Professor of Music Douglas Lockard, will feature jazz and blues tunes from the past and present, opening with Woody Herman's "Apple Honey." The concert will continue with Duke Ellington's classic "Don't Get Around Much Anymore," Miles Davis' "The Theme, There's Only So Much Oil in the Ground," The Pink Panther, and the blues riff from the Woody Herman band, "Things Ain't What They Used to Be." 

Featured soloists include senior baritone saxophonist Dakota Jackson on Gerry Mulligan's "Out Back of the Barn" and vibraphone soloist Darius Williams playing "Django." Elena Sleazina, a senior vocal performance major from Moldova, will be the featured vocalist on Henry Mancini's "It Had Better Be Tonight."
