Parker, Lindsey, Perez are NFCA All-Americans

May 21, 2015

NFCA: LOUISVILLE, Ky. (5/20/15) - Earning All-American status is hard to do and the East Texas Baptist University softball team has three NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) All-Americans players this year. Shelby Parker, Lacey Lindsey, and Jayme Perez are all NFCA All-Americans announced at the annual NCAA National Championship Banquet in Salem, Va.

Parker becomes ETBU's fifth NFCA All-American first-team selection following Ayrika Henderson (2009-pitcher), Allison Ratcliff (2004-DP), Tonya Minor (2004-OF), and Angela Gonzales (2004-catcher). It is the first time that Parker has been named an All-American and she is only one of two pitches selected on the first-team. The other pitcher selected is Tufts University Allison Fournier. This adds to the awards Parker has already earned in NFCA All-West Region first-team, ASC Pitcher of the Year, All-ASC first-team, five-time ASC pitcher of the week, and CoSIDA Academic All-District. Parker owns seven ETBU pitching records and leaves with over 600 career strikeouts and 78 wins.

Earning a spot on the NFCA All-American second-team is Lindsey (at-large) and Perez (designated player).  Both players were NFCA All-American third-team selections in 2014. Lindsey finished the year as the ASC co-Player of the Year and was a two-time ASC Hitter of the Week. She broke the ETBU single season record for home runs, held by Ratcliff, with 16. Perez hit 11 home runs and was also an All-ASC first-team selection.

This is the third year in a row that ETBU has had a NFCA All-American player.
