Good Samaritan Award & ETBU Scholarship Dinner

Thursday, February 20, 2025 | 6:00 p.m. | Great Hall, Great Commission Center

“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Honoring the J. E. and L. E. Mabee Foundation

Inspired by the parable in Luke 10:25-37, East Texas Baptist University presents the Good Samaritan Award to individuals and organizations that have embodied the second greatest commandment of “loving your neighbor as yourself.”

Established by John and Lotte Mabee in 1948, the J. E. and L. E. Mabee Foundation has provided more than $1.5 billion in support of organizations that reflect their passion for improving education, health, and social services.  Born on a dirt farm, John Mabee – through hard work, determination, and shrewd investments – rose to become incredibly successful.  Together with Lotte, they used their wealth to invest in the growth of countless organizations and communities.  Throughout the years, thousands of ETBU students have benefited from the support of the J.E and L. E Mabee Foundation, and it is fitting that we honor the vision and benevolence of the Mabee Foundation by raising scholarship support to assist current and future ETBU students.

As an institution, we are committed to preparing students to follow the example of the Mabee Foundation in “loving your neighbor as yourself.” Now under the direction of Executive Director, Michael Goeke, the J. E. and L. E. Mabee Foundation embodies the parable of the Good Samaritan as it provides millions of dollars annually to non-profit organizations in Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri.  We would be grateful for your support of the Good Samaritan Award and ETBU Scholarship Dinner as we honor the J.E. and L. E. Mabee Foundation.

Please join us on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of ETBU's Great Commission Center for an evening of recognition and celebration.
