East Texas Baptist University receives additional ETMC grant

The East Texas Medical Center (ETMC) Foundation recently awarded East Texas Baptist University a $100,000 grant to help meet the growing need for mental health care in Smith County and greater East Texas region. ETBU opened the Community Counseling Center in 2020 at the ETBU-Tyler site located at 1301 S. Broadway in Tyler and launched a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program in January of 2021.

Hurricane Ida donations collected by ETBU and Marshall Community

East Texas Baptist University collected donations for Texas Baptist Men's Disaster Relief efforts to help individuals affected by Hurricane Ida in Louisiana. Items collected during the donation drive include bottled water and bottled Gatorade, infant and adult diapers, baby wipes, cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, and paper goods.

ETBU commemorates 20th anniversary of 9/11

As the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks approaches, East Texas Baptist University paused to remember and honor the men and women who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. On Wednesday, September 8, the University held a special chapel service featuring a video presentation, memorial wreath, display of flags, salute to public servants and military personnel, and a special address from ETBU Dean of Spiritual Life Scott Stevens.

East Texas Baptist University receives grant from Dean Foundation for new William B. Dean, M.D. Center for Language and Literacy Development

The Dean Foundation has gifted East Texas Baptist University a grant of $500,000 to create the William B. Dean, M.D. Center for Language and Literacy Development. The Dean Center encompasses an expansion of ETBU’s downtown campus learning center at the Marshall Grand for the new Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program and the enhancement of the University’s student-focused Learning Support Services program.

Fall 2021 Enrollment indicates growth for East Texas Baptist University

East Texas Baptist University celebrates the second-highest recorded student enrollment in the University’s 109-year history with 1,688 total students, and an 84% undergraduate retention rate (2% higher than the five-year average). In addition, the total graduate enrollment exhibits the highest graduate enrollment in University history, up by 13% from last year.
