East Texas Baptist University held the second annual Good Samaritan Luncheon on Thursday, April 25 to recognize Marshall Convention and Visitor Bureau Board Chair George Carter and Marshall City Commissioner-District 1 Gloria Moon for their servant leadership in Marshall. ETBU selected Carter and Moon to receive the Good Samaritan Award, inspired by the parable in Luke 10:25-37.

East Texas Baptist University held a series of events as a part of the annual ETBU Global Missions Week on Monday, March 25 through Thursday, March 28. To highlight both international and local missions, the week consisted of Mission Marketplace, a Mission Interest Lunch, Go Now Missions Run, and special guests for chapel services.

East Texas Baptist University students traveled to Birmingham, Alabama from Sunday, March 10 through Friday, March 15 on a mission trip as a part of the national Habitat for Humanity Collegiate Challenge. Led by ETBU Dean of Spiritual Life Scott Stevens, the ETBU students earned service credit hours while being involved in hands-on mission work through home construction and rehabilitation.

East Texas Baptist University acknowledged two students on Monday, October 8 for their service to the campus and community. Seniors Mpanga Chanda from Lusaka, Zambia, and Sheldon McGowan from Tyler, Texas, were awarded the Bob and Gayle Riley Servant Leadership Award during a special chapel service. ETBU President Emeritus Bob Riley and his wife, Gayle, presented the students with a replica of the “Divine Servant” statue, created by Max Greiner, that stands outside of ETBU’s Ornelas Spiritual Life Center.

East Texas Baptist University students spent the summer serving in a variety of areas locally and internationally. From youth internships at local churches and Christian camps to overseas opportunities, students actively stepped out in faith to partner with ETBU mission efforts.
