East Texas Baptist University hosted the 70th annual Miss ETBU Pageant on Saturday, September 26, in Baker Chapel at the Rogers Spiritual Life Center. Junior nursing major Kaylee Rabb was crowned 2026 Miss ETBU as well as Audience Favorite. One of the University’s oldest and most cherished traditions, the Miss ETBU Pageant highlights students who exemplify Christian character, poise, and scholarship. The winner serves as an ambassador for ETBU, representing the University both on campus and in the community.
“I don’t think I could ever fully put into words what the support of my family, friends, and ETBU community has meant to me,” Rabb said. “There have been so many people who have believed in me, prayed for me, encouraged me, and stood beside me throughout this journey. I know how meaningful it can be when someone takes the time to make you feel seen, valued, and supported, and I hope to be that person for others throughout my year as Miss ETBU. More than anything, I’m excited to see what God has in store. I know this year will go by quickly, so I want to be intentional about being present, embracing every opportunity, and making the most of each moment.”
Megan Smith, a senior Christian ministry major from Pasadena, Texas, was named First Runner-Up, while Kynsey Thompson, a sophomore Christian ministry and business major from Heflin, Louisiana, was selected as Miss Congeniality.
Rabb is a Bossier City, Louisiana native who is actively involved in campus life at East Texas Baptist University. In addition to her recognition in this year’s event, she was also named Audience Favorite in the 2025 Miss ETBU Pageant. She serves as a resident assistant and participates in cheerleading, band, Sisterhood women’s ministry, and Student Foundation. In May 2025, Kaylee joined the Cheer, Pom, and Acrobatics & Tumbling teams on a Tiger Athletic Mission Experience trip to Northern Ireland, where she shared God’s love through service and teamwork. Kaylee attends Immanuel Baptist Church in Marshall and serves in children’s ministry.
During the pageant, Miss ETBU contestants participated in a choreographed dance that began the ceremony, demonstrated individual special talents for the audience, walked the stage in formal wear for contestant introductions, and participated in a question-and-answer segment with the panel of judges. Later, the top five finalists delivered speeches, providing insight into their personal stories, as well as current and future aspirations.
At the conclusion of the event, reigning Miss ETBU and senior nursing major Mackenzie Lawrence reflected on her experience with the contestants before crowning the new Miss ETBU.
“As I reflect on this year, I hope that people remember me, not because I wore the crown well. I hope that they remember that I loved people well,” Lawrence said. “If there was one lasting impact I hope to leave, it's this: That Miss ETBU doesn't have to be perfect. She doesn't have to pretend to have all the answers. She simply has to be a woman who is willing to let the Lord shape her every single day.”
Following the event, Dean of Student Engagement Dr. Daniele Brock offered a reminder of the vision of the Miss ETBU Pageant.
“Being named Miss ETBU is an opportunity to lead by example,” Dr. Brock said. “She represents the character, faith, and servant leadership we hope to see in every ETBU student. More than the crown or title, we are proud to recognize a student who is willing to step forward to encourage others, serve her university, and make a positive impact on our campus and beyond.”
