ETBU Names Dr. Heather Hadlock as Vice President for Student Affairs

MARSHALL, Texas (11/20/15) - East Texas Baptist University President Dr. Blair Blackburn announces that Dr. Heather Hadlock has been selected to serve as Vice President for Student Affairs. Dr. Hadlock comes to ETBU after serving in a number of roles in student affairs and administrative affairs at Dallas Baptist University including Assistant Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Associate Dean of Students, Director of Residence Life, and Director of Student Life.
 
"Dr. Hadlock is an effective administrative leader with diverse experiences in her 14-year career in Christian higher education and is a collaborative leader, who has forged strong partnership between the academic and student affairs divisions," Dr. Blackburn said. "She has worked to build bridges that connect faculty and academic deans with student affairs staff in order to provide the highest quality of services and support to student success and learning."
 
In Dr. Hadlock's most recent DBU position as Assistant Vice President for Administrative Affairs, she provided upper-level leadership and management to Student Affairs, Enrollment, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Chapel Services, and Administrative Affairs. In her previous role as Associate Dean of Students, Dr. Hadlock supervised Residence Life, Apartment Life, First-Year Student Orientation Programs, Health Services, Career Services, Counseling Services, Student Retention and Success, Student Organizations, Student Leadership Programs, Student Government, and Yearbook.  She has served as the senior-level accreditation director for three university divisions for the past three years.

"I look forward to building relationships with the students while providing a strong Christian community in which they can grow intellectually, spiritually, and socially." 
 
Dr. Hadlock received her Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education from Hardin-Simmons University.  She earned a Master of Education in Higher Education in Student Services from the University of North Texas and completed her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University. 
 
Before entering higher education, Dr. Hadlock was an elementary teacher in the Grand Prairie Independent District for four years. 
 
"Heather has a warm and caring spirit, with an engaging personality that connects with students.  She has a heart for guiding students in their spiritual development and personal maturity. I am grateful that God called Dr. Hadlock to ETBU to serve Him and our students," Dr. Blackburn shared.
 
Dr. Hadlock began her service at ETBU on November 16, 2015.
