ETBU 2015 Homecoming, October 23-25

MARSHALL, Texas (10/09/15) - East Texas Baptist University will hold Homecoming 2015 on October 23-25. 

The official start of Homecoming is Friday, October 23, at 10:00 a.m. in Baker Auditorium of the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center. Alumni Awards and the Golden Blazer Ceremony will highlight the gathering of alumni, students, faculty and staff.  

Edwards Conference Center will be the venue for the Golden Lightkeepers Luncheon to be held on Friday. The Golden Lightkeepers include those who have been alumni for 50 or more years. Miss ETBU 2015, Morgan Garrett, will greet those who attend the luncheon. 

A five-year reunion dinner for the 2010 NCAA Division III National Softball Championship team will be held on Friday evening.  Other activities on Friday will be the "42" Tournament, Blue Revue: A Fine Arts Showcase, Late Night Breakfast in the Bennett Student Commons, and the Tiger Pep Rally and Bonfire. 

On Saturday morning, all class reunion brunches will be held by decade at 9:00 a.m. in various rooms located in the Ornelas Student Center. The honor classes this year are 1965, 1975, 1985, and 1995.
 
The Fred Hale School of Business, the School of Christian Studies and Biology and Chemistry will hold open houses Saturday morning. 

Saturday afternoon activities include the Young Alum Reunion  at 3:00 p.m. in the Tiger Family Carnival area. The Tiger Family Carnival will be held north of Fry Hall known as Tiger Alley beginning at 1:00 p.m. and will last until 4:00 p.m.  This year's honor class is 2005.

Due to expected inclement weather, East Texas Baptist University officials have changed the start time of the homecoming football game with Belhaven University. The ETBU-Belhaven game will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Ornelas Stadium. 

The Tiger Family Carnival, in conjunction with homecoming activities, has been moved to an inside venue and will be held in the Dean Healthplex from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. The Tiger Carnival is open for all homecoming participants to attend and will include games, local food vendors and live music. 


The ETBU Tigers will play Belhaven University at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday in the homecoming football game at Ornelas Stadium. The Homecoming King and Queen will be announced during halftime activities, along with a performance from the Tiger Marching Band. Tailgating begins in the Tiger Alley area at 4:00 p.m.

The homecoming weekend will include soccer matches on both Friday and Saturday at the Cornish Soccer Field located north of Ornelas Stadium. The Lady Tigers and Tigers play University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday afternoon. On Saturday afternoon both soccer teams play Concordia University. 

A special alumni worship service will be held on Sunday, October 25. The service will be held in the Lampsato Chapel on the second floor of the Ornelas Student Center at 9:00 a.m.
