ETBU to Hold "The Hilltop Experience: For the Living of These Days" Conference for Senior Adults, June 3-5

June 2, 2015

MARSHALL, Texas (5/19/15) -  A spiritual renewal conference for senior adults is planned on the beautiful campus of East Texas Baptist University for June 3, 4, & 5th.  "The Hilltop Experience: For the Living of These Days" will provide worship, preaching, and Biblical teaching focused on revival and renewal.

'H. E. Fosdick's prayer 'Grant us wisdom, grant us courage for the living of these days' is the underlying theme of the conference," says Paul Tapp, ETBU Director of Alumni Development.  "Seniors are now facing challenges and responsibilities at local, national, and family levels which will require spiritual resources if we are to meet the demands of our changing culture."

The keynote address, "America's Coming Implosion" will be delivered by Dr. Robert Jeffress. Dr. Jeffress is the senior pastor of the 11,000 member First Baptist Church of Dallas. He serves as a Fox News Contributor and has appeared on "The O'Reilly Factor," "Good Morning America" and on many national radio and television programs.  Dr. Jeffress will speak at7:00 p.m on opening night of the conference.  Visitors are welcome and encouraged to attend.

East Texas pastor Dr. David Dykes will serve as the conference pastor. He is the pastor of Green Acres Baptist Church of Tyler, recognized as one of the leading churches in America in terms of missions and evangelism.

The Bible Study teacher is Texas native Dr. Bill Anderson.  He is in much demand as a preacher, conference leader, Bible teacher and interim pastor. Dr. Anderson has addressed audiences at Glorieta, Ridgecrest, numerous churches overseas, state conventions and evangelism conferences.  His teaching will focus on personal enrichment and "equipping the saints" for the challenges of our day.

Dr. Catherine Crawford, ETBU Vice President for University Advancement, says, "The selection of each of the conference leaders was given prayerful consideration by a steering committee.  This committee was dedicated to provide today's Christians a challenge balanced with hope and the strategies to thrive in today's world."

Two concerts will be held during The Hilltop Experience. The Hoppers, known as "America's Favorite Family of Gospel Music" will perform at 1:00 p.m. on the first afternoon of the conference. Cynthia Clawson, known to many as the "singer's singer" will provide a vocal performance at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening.  Tickets will be available for both concerts at LifeWay Christian Stores and at the door.

Two humorists, Aaron Wilburn and David Crain, are on the schedule as well. Wilburn brings a down-home brand of humor to the conference and is a feature on the Gaither Homecoming tours and videos. Crain is a high-energy Christian musician and humorist.

Other guests for The Hilltop Experience include The Singing Men of East Texas, the 150-voice "Day to Remember Choir," Stacy Perkins, Billy Foote, Donnie Stribble, Aaron Perkins and the "Boundless Love" quartet.
