East Texas Baptist University’s Debbie Rogers, Director of Campus Services, has been honored with the Marshall Greater Chamber of Commerce's 2024 Employee of the Year award. The recognition was presented at the Chamber's annual Business and Industry Luncheon, which serves to celebrate outstanding individuals contributing to the local community.

Debbie Rogers has been a dedicated member of the ETBU community for 23 years, demonstrating commitment and passion for her alma mater. During the awards ceremony, Stacia Runnels, Executive Director of the Chamber, commended Debbie for her exceptional service, stating, "She serves the community in numerous ways, demonstrating a heart for service, a trait that is deeply valued at her place of employment.

Beyond her role at ETBU, Debbie is actively involved in various community initiatives, showcasing her commitment to making a positive impact. She is a dedicated softball umpire, coaches youth basketball, and has previously coached youth softball and baseball. Her involvement extends to serving on numerous PTA Boards, the MHS Baseball Booster Club Board, and the MHS Football Booster Club, where she has served for over two decades, currently holding the position of Treasurer.

Debbie is also a proud member of the Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, representing ETBU and contributing to the local business community. Her commitment to community service extends to her involvement with River Crossing Cowboy Church, where she serves as a teacher for Ladies Sunday School and leads the Wednesday night Ladies Bible Study group.

Colleagues and community members alike praised Debbie for her remarkable qualities. One nominator shared, "I still have an email saved on my computer from over a year ago. It was an inspirational Bible verse and article to read about encouragement. She loves the Lord, and is on fire for Him." Another nominator emphasized Debbie's ability to make everyone feel loved and important, describing her as a wonderful person, a hard worker, and a good friend.

“We could not be more proud of Debbie and this recognition from the Marshall Chamber of Commerce,” Vice President for Student Engagement and Athletics Ryan Erwin said. “I have had the privilege of serving alongside Debbie for the past eight years and have been able to personally witness her love, serve, and invest in the lives of the ETBU students and staff on a daily basis. Debbie sees her position at ETBU as a calling and an opportunity to show Christ to everyone she interacts with on campus and in the community.”
