ASC MEN'S BASKETBALL: RICHARDSON, Texas (2/20/16) – Sul Ross State won the American Southwest Conference West Division title and earned the right to host the 2016 ASC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament. The 2016 event will be played Thursday through Saturday, February 25-27, at the Pete P. Gallego Center in Alpine, Texas.
After competing for two years in a non-division format, the ASC has returned to the East and West division alignment with the top four seeds in each division competing for the ASC championship.
The quarterfinals are scheduled for Thursday, February 25, the semifinals will be played Friday, February 26 and the championship game will tip Saturday, February 27.
Louisiana College and Concordia Texas will tip-off the tournament in game one at 12:00 p.m. In his first season as head coach Reni Mason led Louisiana College (12-12) to its fifth tournament appearance and the No. 3 seed in the East Division. Concordia Texas (15-10) enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed in the West Division. The Tornados make their ninth tournament appearance and won the title in 2013.
Mary Hardin-Baylor and East Texas Baptist will meet in game two at 2:30 p.m. Mary Hardin-Baylor (10-15) is the No. 4 seed in the West Division. The Cru makes their 16th tournament appearance and have won two ASC crowns (2008, 2010). The defending ASC champion, East Texas Baptist (20-5), makes its 10th tournament appearance and won the East Division title. ETBU has won 20 or more overall games in the each of the last two seasons.
Hardin-Simmons and Texas Dallas will play in game three at 5:00 p.m. Hardin-Simmons (15-10) is the No. 3 seed in the West Division and makes its ninth tournament appearance. HSU is a three-time runner-up with its most recent title game appearance coming in 2014. Texas Dallas (17-8) is the No. 2 seed in the East Division. The Comets make their league-leading 13th tournament appearance and have won three ASC championships, most recently in 2014.
Sul Ross State and LeTourneau will play in game four at 7:30 p.m. In his first season as head coach Clif Carroll led Sul Ross State (15-9) to its first West Division title since 2005 and fourth overall. The Lobos make their eighth tournament appearance and won the ASC championship the same season they previously hosted the event in 2004. LeTourneau (12-13) claimed the No. 4 seed in the East Division and makes its first tournament appearance since 2013.
The 2016 ASC Championship Tournament is the 18th men's basketball postseason tournament dating back to 1999. The winner of the tournament is the ASC champion and earns an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship.

The 2016 event will be played Thursday through Saturday, February 25-27, at the Louise Herrington Patriot Center in Tyler, Texas.
After competing for two years in a non-division format, the ASC has returned to the East and West division alignment with the top four seeds in each division competing for the ASC championship.
The quarterfinals are scheduled for Thursday, February 25 and the semifinals will be played Friday, February 26. Game five will tip at 5:00 p.m. and game six is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start time. The championship game will start at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 27.
LeTourneau and Hardin-Simmons will tip-off the tournament in game one at 12:00 p.m. LeTourneau (11-4 / 16-9) is the No. 2 seed in the East Division and makes its third tournament appearance. The YellowJackets finished second in the East Division for the first time since 2003. Hardin-Simmons (6-8 / 10-15) enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed in the West Division. No stranger to the postseason, HSU has played in 17 of 18 ASC tournaments and leads all teams with six titles.
Howard Payne and Texas Dallas will tip in game two at 2:30 p.m. Howard Payne (10-4 / 16-9) enters the tournament as the West Division champions. The Lady Jackets claimed their fifth division title and first since 2013. HPU makes its 13th consecutive tournament appearance and leads the ASC with 20 wins in the ASC championship. The defending ASC champion, Texas Dallas (6-9 / 14-11), is the No. 4 seed in the East Division. The Comets make their 10th consecutive tournament appearance and have won two of the last three ASC titles (2013, 2015).

In his first season as head coach Edsel Hamilton led the Tigers to their first tournament appearance since 2013 and eighth overall.
Concordia Texas and Texas-Tyler will meet in game four at 7:30 p.m. In her first season as head coach Kendra Hassell led Texas-Tyler (15-0 / 24-1) to its fourth East Division title and first since 2008. The Patriots enter the tournament riding a 16-game win streak and ranked No. 5 in the D3hoops.com top 25 poll. Texas-Tyler makes its sixth tournament appearance and has appeared in each of the last two championship games, coming away with the title in 2014 and finished as the runner-up in 2015. Concordia Texas (5-9 / 14-11) enters the tournament as the No. 4 seed in the West Division. The Tornados make their fifth consecutive tournament appearance and sixth overall.
