Tiger Bret Atkins ASC East Player of the Week

ASC: RICHARDSON, Texas (12/15/15) - Guiding the East Texas Baptist University men's basketball team to two wins last week at home, Bret Atkins has been named the American Southwest Conference East Division Player of the Week. It is the first player of the week award this year for ETBU.

Atkins averaged 21 points per game and shot .650 from the floor, .500 from three-point range, and .857 from the foul line. He scored a career-high 27 points in a 78-68 win over Louisiana College. Atkins shot .700 from the floor, was a perfect 4-of-4 from three-point range and was 9-of-10 at the foul line. In a non-conference game against Rust College, Atkins had 15 points shooting .600 from the floor (6-of-10) with six rebounds. Overall, he averaged 21 points per game, shot .650 from the floor, .500 from three-point distance, and .857 from the free throw line. Against Louisiana College with 12:13 remaining, ETBU led by four points when Atkins scored the next nine points in four minutes for a 60-51 lead on a 9-4 run.

ETBU is currently 7-1 and 2-0 in the ASC East with a 26-game home winning streak. They are 15th in the latest D3hoops.com national poll moving up from 22nd last week.
