MARSHALL, Texas (12/19/14) - Looking forward to the new year in social media, the East Texas Baptist University athletic department has made some changes in social media for branding and social media index points. ETBU has changed their main social media accounts to GoETBUTigers in an effort to put all their social media channels in one area with one name to find ETBU easier.
With the change, ETBU now moves into seventh place in the NCAA Division III social media index and needs just 0.4 points to move into the top five. The index is based upon enrollment to follower ratio in Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
"One of the reasons for the change is branding purposes so all the sites will be easier to market to fans, recruits, and anybody that follows ETBU," says director of sports information Adam P. Ledyard.
Out of over 440 schools in NCAA Division III, ETBU is ranked seventh in the social media index. They have a 4.9038 index which is the best for Texas NCAA Division III schools. Overall ETBU is 13th in Instagram (1,012), 46th in Facebook (2,392), and 101st in Twitter (1,761). To break into the top 10 in Instagram, ETBU needs 224 new followers, in Facebook they need 1,124, and in Twitter they need 1,804.
The goal right now is to break 3,000 Twitter followers (1,237 needed), 5,000 Facebook likes (2,608 needed), and 2,000 followers on Instagram (988 needed). If fans can spread the word about ETBU's social media channels through students, student-athletes, family, and friends, ETBU can move into the top five overall in the social media index.
ETBU also has several individual team pages for Twitter and Facebook. Below is listed their accounts to also follow with goals to meet.
The ETBU softball twitter account, with 1,185 followers, is the most in NCAA Division III for their sport. ETBU?s Football Twitter account is at 1,136 and is in the top 13 in the nation while baseball?s 741 is believed to be the most in NCAA Division III for individual team accounts.
