ETBU Department of Theatre Arts Presents The Heiress, October 8-11

October 8, 2015

MARSHALL, Texas (9/30/15) -  East Texas Baptist University's Department of Theatre Arts proudly presents their fall production "The Heiress" by Ruth and Augustus Goetz, based on the novel "Washington Square" by Henry James. Performances of The Heiress are October 8-10 at 7:30 p.m. and October 11 at 2:30 p.m. in the Mabee Recital Hall of the Jenna Guest Music Building located on campus.  All tickets are $5.00 general admission or one free ticket per ETBU ID; no reservations required.

The play tells the story of Catherine Sloper, a young woman described as plain and painfully shy, who is set to inherit an enormous fortune upon the death of her father. Much to Catherine's surprise, she finds herself pursued by the handsome and charming Morris Townsend- who has a history of poverty and poor choices behind him. Catherine's father, the highly respected and powerful Dr. Austin Sloper, believes Morris is only after her money and threatens to disinherit her should she choose to marry the one she loves. Catherine must then decide for herself which man has her best interests at heart.
