Screen captures, audio and/or video recordings or livestreams of classroom lectures or other academic meetings, events, and presentations must be approved in writing by the faculty member teaching the course or an approved disability accommodation. Any recordings are the sole property of East Texas Baptist University and are subject to the provisions of applicable copyright law. Permission to record does not provide students permission to distribute or disseminate these recordings in whole or part through any public or private forum, social media, or the internet. All recordings must be deleted and/or destroyed at the end of the term. Failure to follow those policies may be subject to sanction under this rule.
Student Learning and Engagement
ETBU offers courses in a variety of formats and term-lengths. All courses, regardless of format (online, classroom, hybrid, written/electronic correspondence) or length of term must meet the same requirements for student engagement. Due to the consistency of student engagement requirement across formats, in the event of financial exigency or force majeure, courses may be adjusted to an alternate delivery system. Weapons in Class
The on-campus possession of firearms, explosives, or fireworks is prohibited with the exception of the transportation and storage of firearms and ammunition by concealed handgun license holders in private vehicles (as described in SB1907) Pursuant to Section 30.06, Penal Code (trespass by license holder with a concealed handgun), a person licensed under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code (handgun licensing law), may not enter this property (ETBU) with a concealed handgun. The ETBU President may grant authorization to a qualified and certified full-time faculty or staff member, who is a license holder with a concealed handgun to conceal carry on the University campus, at a University-sponsored event or within or on a University vehicle.
Required Technology
In order to participate fully in the class if Zoom in required, students taking the course must have access to the following technology for the duration of the course:
- Computer or other electronic device capable of running Zoom
- An internet connection – broadband wired or wireless (3G or 4G/LTE)
- Speakers and a microphone – built-in or USB plug-in or wireless Bluetooth
- A webcam or HD webcam - built-in or USB plug-in
Zoom Etiquette
Students attending class via Zoom must be prepared to fully participate in class. To count as attending, a student’s participation via Zoom requires:
- Video turned on and microphone enabled. Students should remain muted unless they are speaking, but may not turn off the camera.
- Full interaction with class content, including, when called upon, discussion via the microphone, chat feature, or other technology required by the syllabus.
- Student to have immediate access to textbook and any other relevant class materials.
- Student to be dressed according to the dress code as identified in the student handbook.
- Student to attend from a location with minimal distractions for other class participants, i.e. not from a restaurant, while attending another activity, etc.
Health and Hygiene
In order to protect themselves, peers, faculty, and the ETBU community, students are expected to follow these guidelines for health and hygiene:
- Students experiencing any of the following symptoms may not attend class in-person: a fever of over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, dry cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle or body aches, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea. Students exhibiting any of the above symptoms must notify your instructor and contact the Sisk Health Services Clinic located on campus to make an appointment. Please complete a symptom report.
- Wash hands frequently with soap and water or using hand sanitizer.
- Keep clothing, belongings, personal spaces, and shared common spaces clean and sanitized.
- Stay up-to-date on immunizations that combat vaccine-preventable diseases.
ETBU and other governmental agencies may modify these guidelines and expectations as necessary.
