"Mentoring students, helping prepare and setup lab stations like I do currently – I’ll see all of that again in my career ahead." Braulio Santiago ’23
ETBU Sophomore Braulio Santiago serves in the Chemistry department as a student worker. He shared that the experience he’s gained along the way has helped him with his coursework and prepared him for life after graduation.
“The lab work that I do, preparing lab stations and any chemical compounds or solutions that students need, it’s taught me a lot. Students approach me with questions now, even outside of the lab. It’s rewarding to be able to help others out while learning things myself. In the future I plan to be a laboratory technician – so mentoring students, helping prepare and setup lab stations like I do currently – I’ll see all of that again in my career ahead. I have enjoyed my time as a student at ETBU and am glad I get to play a small role in equipping students for success.
Another thing I’ve really become better at is working with the glass. Don’t be scared of it! If it breaks, more than likely there are replacement supplies.”
