Our Approach

A team of faculty and staff have been working diligently to prepare for a safe and healthy ETBU campus experience this Fall 2021 semester. The ETBU Health and Safety Task Force has formulated an operational plan with standards, expectations, and resources to guide faculty, staff, students, and guests in staying healthy and preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Our approach is based on guidance from health officials, health care consultants, and the CDC. The Coronavirus pandemic presents a dynamic situation that the Health and Safety Task Force will continue to monitor closely, and make any needed adjustments to University operations and health/safety protocols to mitigate the risks associated with COVID-19.

Adaptive Action Triggers

Campus operations are subject to change at any time based on the following considerations:

  • Consideration 1: Significant, applicable actions by city, state, or federal public officials
  • Consideration 2: Testing and tracing capacity on campus and locally
  • Consideration 3: Numbers and trends of COVID-19 case and positivity rates for our community
  • Consideration 4: Numbers and trends of COVID-19 hospital admissions and stressors
  • Consideration 5: Availability of personal protective equipment and testing kits
  • Consideration 6: Availability of isolation facilities and support staff for students
  • Consideration 7: Trends among other comparable institutions of higher education
  • Consideration 8: Availability and distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine
  • Consideration 9: Recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
