Our Project

Heavenly Scent Soap started in 2018 as a joint project between East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) Enactus team and Community Healthcore in Marshall, TX.  Enactus is an international university student organization that partners with local communities to improve people’s lives through social entrepreneurship: using business principles to solve community problems. The name “Heavenly Scent” came from a contest among individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to choose the new company name.  The project partners college students who developed the website, marketing campaign and training materials to teach individuals with IDD how to make the soap, package it and get it ready for mailing. The college students learn project management, marketing, and business development skills and the individuals with IDD learn a meaningful job while earning money by producing high quality soap for the local community and beyond.
