Dr. Shannon Cox-Kelley, Chair and Associate Professor of Biology at ETBU, was previously Dean of Health Science and Faculty in the Community and Public Health Degree program at Northeast Texas Community College. Dr. Cox-Kelley holds a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology, a Master of Science in Health Education, a Master of Science in Biological Sciences and a doctorate in Higher Education all from the University of Texas A&M Commerce campus. Dr. Cox-Kelley also holds a Master Certified Health Education Specialist certification, a Board Certification in Public Health, and a Community Health Worker Instructor certification. Dr. Cox-Kelley has extensive experience in online education design, healthcare provider education, and community health promotion and assessment. She has a research interest in special populations and specifically the impact of educational attainment on health outcomes in diverse communities. She held an Assistant Professor of Occupational Medicine and and Environmental Medicine faculty appointment in the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health at University of Texas Northeast in which she was awarded distance learning faculty of the year in 2013.
