Meet Dr. Justin Hodges

"What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31

Dr. Justin Hodges is Dean of the School of Communication and Performing Arts, Director of Choral Activities, and Professor of Music at East Texas Baptist University. Prior to his appointment at ETBU in 2009, he taught choral Music for eight years at the junior high and high school levels in Killeen and Frisco, Texas. A native of Killeen, Texas, Dr. Hodges holds a BM in Music Education from Tarleton State University and the MM and DMA degrees in Choral Conducting from Texas Tech University. While at Texas Tech, Dr. Hodges served as Assistant Director for University Choir and as Choral Department Manager. His doctoral research produced a conductor's guide to Charles Villiers Stanford's Three Motets, op. 38. His principal conducting teachers were Charles Rives, Kenneth Davis, and John Dickson. Past guest-conducting appearances include the Texas Baptist All-State Choir, The Heartland Honor Choir at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and the Texas Music Educator's Association Region IV Mixed Choir. Dr. Hodges was also selected to participate as a Full Conducting Fellow for the Sarteano Chamber Choral Workshop in Sarteano, Italy. His professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, American Choral Directors Association, Texas Choral Directors Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
