Dr. Donovan Fredricksen serves as Director of Academic Success at East Texas Baptist University, where he manages the dual enrollment program, Center for Academic Excellence, supplemental instruction, early intervention, academic testing, and other programs designed to help support student success. Prior to his time at ETBU, Dr. Fredricksen was on faculty for nearly 20 years in various roles at Dallas Baptist University, including 12 years as dean. He also has served in several church staff positions, including Minister of Education, Youth, and Music.
Education has always been a matter of high importance to Dr. Fredricksen. He completed a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting at Texas Wesleyan University in May 1986, Master of Arts in Religious Education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in December 1997, and Doctor of Philosophy in foundations of education from Southwestern in 2004.
Dr. Fredricksen is a prolific writer, with over 40 published works from such publishers as LifeWay Christian Resources, Baptist General Convention of Texas, BaptistWay Press, NavPress, Life Bible Study, and Student Life Publishing. Over the years he has also led Christian education and missions conferences for Baptist organizations, associations, and North Texas churches.
Believing in the transformative effect of Christ-centered academics, Dr. Fredricksen has a passion for teaching, whether in a college classroom teaching worldview and religion courses, or at his church leading Bible study and discipleship classes. He also enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with his wife, Kelli, his children, and grandchildren.
