Meet Dr. Don Spencer

"How precious is your loving kindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of your wings. They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your pleasures. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light." Psalm 36:7-9.

Dr. Don Spencer's undergraduate degree is from Northern Arizona University in Chemistry, with a Math minor and Secondary Education certification. He taught junior high and high school Math and Chemistry in Denver, Colorado for six years before starting Graduate Studies at the University of Denver. Dr. Spencer received his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1991 in the area of biophysical Chemistry and subsequently worked in postdoctoral research positions at Pennsylvania State University and Eli Lilly & Company. During this time, he developed interests in the area of protein stability and dynamics. Following the postdoctorals, he worked for several companies in northern Indiana over the course of ten years in the area of medical diagnostics research and development, but always with a mind to return to teaching, which has always been his real interest. Dr. Spencer and his wife, Michele have six children and fourteen grandchildren. He enjoys exploring and learning about this molecular world that God has made, which is a testimony to His wisdom, power, beauty, and grace, a small window into His great Mind. And he particularly enjoys teaching Chemistry to students and the privilege of trying to convey to them something of the beauty of God’s creation at the molecular level.
