Meet Dr. Antay Waters

Dr. Antay Waters currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at East Texas Baptist University. Prior to returning to the Hill as faculty, Dr. Waters served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing at UT Arlington College of Nursing and Health Innovation for eight years. She continues to practice clinically as a certified nurse midwife at CHRISTUS St. Michael in Texarkana. Throughout her career, she has served patients across Texas as both a registered nurse and advanced practice registered nurse in cardiovascular intensive care, perioperative services, and women’s services.

Dr. Waters earned a Bachelor of Arts in history with a minor in religion from East Texas Baptist University, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UT Arlington, Master of Science in Nursing Administration from UT Tyler, Master of Science in Nursing-Women's Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Cincinnati, Post-Master's Certificate in Nurse Midwifery from Texas Tech University Health Science Center, and Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. She has presented more than two dozen times on a variety of professional nursing topics as well as has several publications. Dr. Waters is a member and leader in multiple professional organizations.

Dr. Waters’ love of seeing individuals thrive drives her career. Her passion for international travel was sparked by her trip to China with ETBU and continues today. It is her desire to grow future nurses and leaders who share the same passions for excellence, holistic care, and view of the whole world as our mission field. Her research focuses on improving patient care through evidence-based practice in various clinical settings. She is married to Wes, a hospital pharmacist, and has an adult daughter, Peyton. In her spare time, Dr. Waters enjoys traveling, writing, playing the saxophone and piano, and attending concerts and theater productions.
