The East Texas Baptist University Lady Tigers are going back to the NCAA Division III National Softball Championship Tournament. ETBU advances to the 2014 Softball Championship, hosted by the University of Texas-Tyler, with a dramatic 5-4, bottom of the seventh win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to claim the Marshall Super Regional championship.
The Lady Tigers won the Super Regional in nail biting fashion. After winning game one of the best of two game series, the Athenas pushed it to a three game series with a win in game two. Game three came down to the bottom of the seventh inning with ETBU needing three runs to tie and four to win.
Tiger freshman Lacey Lindsey hit a dramatic 3-run walk off homerun for the win as home fans at Taylor Field erupted with joy as the ball sailed over the left field fence. It was Lindsey’s 15th homerun of the year tying Allison Ratcliff’s single season record set in 2004. Ratcliff was at the game, and when Lindsey hit the ball she w
as screaming, “Go, go, go,” and it did!
