Football Releases 2012 Schedule

MARSHALL, Texas (2/9/12) -- ETBU will begin the 2012 football season at home on Sept. 1 with a matchup against national powerhouse Wesley College in Ornelas Stadium. That will be the only home game of the month for the Tigers, who won't be back in Marshall for a football game until an Oct. 6 home date with conference rival Louisiana College.

MARSHALL, Texas (2/2/12) -- Defending American Southwest Conference champion East Texas Baptist is ranked No. 19 in the nation with the release of the 2012 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 Preseason Poll. The Tigers (36-9 in 2011) are one of three ASC East teams ranked in the preseason poll, with Texas-Tyler opening at No. 2 and Louisiana College No. 14.

RICHARDSON, Texas (2/1/12) –– February 1 marks the annual celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day and its 2012 theme is “Title IX at 40: In it for the Long Run.” While the NCAA Division III American Southwest Conference has existed since only 1996, it has been on board with the initiative from the start and is reaping the benefits now more than ever with graduates from its universities and colleges.
MBKB: LaGarde named Player of the Week in ASC East
MARSHALL, Texas (1/31/12) -- East Texas Baptist senior Jeremy LaGarde was named the American Southwest Conference East Division Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks on Monday after averaging over 30 points per game for the Tigers last week.
ATH: Six student-athletes named to ASC Fall Distinguished Scholar-Athlete team
MARSHALL, Texas (1/27/12) -- ETBU placed six student-athletes on the American Southwest Conference Fall Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Teams released Thursday. Earning Distinguished Scholar-Athlete recognition from ETBU are senior Nick Meyers (Jacksonville, TX) for Men's Cross Country; senior Kara Linn Beall (Kavieng, Papua, New Guinea) for Women's Cross Country; junior Seth Hubbard (Beckville, TX) for Football; junior John Salazar (Livingston, TX) for Men's Soccer; senior Danica Saxon (Tyler, TX) for Women's Soccer; and sophomore Jade Laurence (Midlothian, TX) for Volleyball.
