| ETBU's James Fugate wins ASC award for community service |
| MARSHALL, Texas (5/22/12) – East Texas Baptist University senior football student-athlete James Fugate has been named the male winner of the 2011-12 American Southwest Conference Community Service Award, the ASC office announced on Tuesday after a vote of the league’s athletic directors. The ASC Community Service Award, in its fourth academic year, honors a male and female student-athlete who best displays leadership and action in fostering community service on their campus and local community. Each ASC member institution has the opportunity to nominate its campus Community Service Award winner to the conference-wide ballot. STORY |

| Annual golf tournament another success |
| MARSHALL, Texas (5/11/12) – Although the final net financial results haven’t been determined as yet, East Texas Baptist head football coach Mark Sartain qualified this week’s third annual ETBU Football Service and Missions Golf Tournament a huge success. The tournament, held Tuesday at Cypress Hills Golf Club, included over 65 golfers and more tournament sponsors whose contributions through the event will help send a group of ETBU players and coaches on the program’s annual summer missions trip to Open Doors Christian Camp in Ukraine next month. | Annual 7 on 7 tournament set May 26 |
MARSHALL, Texas (5/8/12) – East Texas Baptist will host the fifth annual ETBU Football 7 on 7 tournament on Saturday, May 26, beginning at 9 a.m. at Ornelas Stadium. The tournament is open to at least 16 high school teams, with 13 having already signed up as of May 8. ETBU assistant coach and tournament director Devin Phillips said that if more than 16 teams sign up for the tournament the schedule will be adjusted accordingly.

| ETBU to host summer NFL HSPD camp |
MARSHALL, Texas (5/2/12) – East Texas Baptist University’s football program will host a summer football camp designed by the National Football League for high school player development July 23-25. The camp – a part of the NFL’s High School Player Development Program, was also developed by the University of Alabama. STORY |
