ETBU Remains Steady in Both National Polls

October 21, 2016

Dropping their first game of the season, the East Texas Baptist University football remained in the national polls for another school record. ETBU entered the D3football.com poll for a school record seventh straight week. ETBU also entered this week ranked in the American Football Coach's Association poll for a record fifth straight week.

Head coach Scotty Walden on remaining in the national polls, "I think it shows a lot of respect for our program. I was a little worried they would kick us out (after loss), but it shows respect that if we remain consistent and keep working hard, that we can be a consistently ranked football team. We want to be a team that is in the top-25 week in and week out, and we take a lot of pride in that."

ETBU drops three spots after their first loss of the season in the seventh D3football.com poll of the 2016 season. ETBU enters this week ranked 19th, three points behind Coe College for 18th place. Mary Hardin-Baylor is 3rd and Hardin-Simmons is 11th in the D3football.com poll. UMHB and HSU play each other this Saturday.

ETBU is entering the fifth American Football Coaches Association Poll dropping seven spots to 22nd after the loss to UMHB. UMHB is ranked 3rd and HSU is ranked 8th this week in the AFCA Poll.

ETBU (5-1) is home this Saturday for an American Southwest Conference match against Howard Payne University. It is the annual Homecoming game for ETBU.
