  • rank in the upper 40% of their high school graduating class;
  • a composite ACT score of 18 or more;
  • a combined (critical reading and mathematics) SAT score of 860 or more; OR

ACT/SAT Tests
Both the ACT and SAT tests cover basic material in English, Math, English Reading, and Science.  Contact your nearest USA Embassy or Consulate for information on where and when you can take these tests.

English Proficiency
Students whose native language is not English must also submit one of the following:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 500 (paper-based), 173 (computer-based), or 61 (Internet-based);
  • International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) score of at least 5.0;
  • Proof of successful completion of an accredited ESL program; OR
  • Verification that English was the medium of instruction for the student's high school education.

Class Rank
We recognize that international schools do not typically rank students based upon their academic performance. If class rank is not available, a letter (written/translated in English) from a school official may be substituted. The letter should state that the student's overall high school Grade Point Average (GPA) is in the upper 40 percent of the graduating class.
